A rich source of calcium designed to supplement bone growth requirements. NAF’s pure Limestone Flour should be fed when there is a need for additional calcium in the diet to supplement bone growth requirements. Calcium is essential to all animals for bone and tissue growth and integrity. Calcium salts make up approximately 70% of the weight of the bone, and it is this that gives bone it’s rigidity. Calcium also has a number of other important roles to play throughout the body. It helps in muscle contractions, particularly of the heart, and it has a role in the nerve impulse transmission in the central nervous system. Perhaps calcium’s best known role is in milk production and it is vital that lactating mares have an adequate supply. Limestone Flour is recommended as a source of calcium for those on a ‘straights’ or cereal based diet, particularly if bran is included, to balance the calcium to phosphorous ratio. A lack of calcium in the horse is seen as epiphysitis and weakness. Limestone Flour contains only ground limestone and is, essentially, pure calcium. However limestone flour is not recommended for youngstock, as excess calcium can lead to developmental abnormalities such as Osteochondrosis desicans (OCD). We offer a FREE Click and Collect service to all of our BATA Country Stores, South West Lancashire Farmers and Thompsons Town & Country Store. You can select this option at checkout. This service is FREE of charge and takes between 4-5 working days. Your selected store will contact you when your order is ready for collection. We also offer UK Standard delivery at £5.95 and UK Express delivery at £7.95, if you need your items that little bit sooner. Standard delivery will take 3-5 days, while Express will take 1-2 days. Note that for some orders, the postage cost may increase once an order has been placed, this is due to added surcharges, the size or weight of the item(s). Order Cut-Off time for Express delivery is 14:00. Please note, the above service excludes fuel products, with delivery of Web Orders on Oils & Additives taking between 3-10 days. Furthermore, please be aware that our timber products and some larger agricultural products are excluded from delivery, with these being Click & Collect Only products. We hope you are happy with your recent purchases, however, if you’d like to return an online order, we are happy to offer a full refund on all products bought within 28 days of receipt, providing the goods have not been used or damaged. All goods returned will only be accepted if they are returned in their original packaging, with labels attached and in a clean and dry condition.
